NEW YORK- Highlighted by the First Team selection of Baruch's
Gerard Nicholson, a total of six CUNY Athletic Conference men's basketball players were recognized on the Met Basketball Writers Association Division III All-Met Teams announced Tuesday morning.
Lehman's
Kai Parris and John Jay's
Jamir Stewart were Second Team selections, while the Bloodhounds'
Keyshawn Miller was chosen to the Third Team. CCNY's
Edward Beqiri and Baruch's
Brandon Goldberg were All-Met Honorable Mention.
Being named All-Met is unique in that there are 35 colleges and universities and more than 500 players under the MBWA Division III women’s umbrella.
The 2024-25 All-Met teams will be honored at the 92nd MBWA Haggerty Awards dinner on Thursday, April 24, at the Sleepy Hollow Hotel & Conference Center in Tarrytown, NY. The Haggerty dinner is the longest running, media-managed college basketball awards program in the United States.
Nicholson, the CUNYAC Player of the Year and First Team All-Star who was also named an NABC All-American, averaged 19.7 points per game for the Bearcats and knocked down 63 three-pointers as he led Baruch to their sixth straight CUNYAC title game appearance. Nicholson was also an All-ECAC selection for the Bearcats.
Parris, a CUNYAC First Team All-Star selection, led the Lightning and the conference in scoring with his 20.5 ppg average. Parris ranked third in the league in rebounding, grabbing 9.4 rebounds per game, while his .527 field goal percentage was also tops in the conference.
Stewart, a First Team All-Star, led the conference champion Bloodhounds and ranked third in the conference in scoring with his 16.2 point per game average as he knocked down 70 three-pointers. Stewart, the MVP of the CUNYAC Men's Basketball Championship, added 3.1 rebounds per game.
Miller, also a First Team All-Star, averaged 15.0 points per game for the Bloodhounds as he helped lead John Jay to its first CUNYAC title since 2008. Miller also ranked seventh in the conference in rebounding, registering 7.9 rebounds per game, while his 3.1 steals per game paced the CUNYAC and ranked No. 9 nationally.
Beqiri, a First Team All-Star, finished tied for seventh in the conference in scoring with his 14.7 ppg average. Beqiri also grabbed 5.9 rebounds per game and shot 46% from the floor.
Goldberg, the final member of the All-Star First Team, finished tied for seventh in the conference in scoring with Beqiri at 14.7 ppg while his 11.2 rebounds per game were second in the conference. He shot 51.8% from the floor and had 23 blocked shots.
