2024-25 CUNYAC Women's Indoor Track and Field Awards Announced

FLUSHING, N.Y. – The City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) has announced its All-Star awards and team for the 2024-25 women’s indoor track & field season.
 
Medgar Evers’ Toshel Goffe was selected as the Women’s Track Athlete of the Year.  Jamie Risso of Hunter was voted as the Field Athlete of the Year, while Thenica Thompson of Medgar Evers was named Rookie of the Year.  Hunter’s Marvin Hawkins was named Coach of the Year, while York’s Keanna Clouden was the Sportsmanship Award winner.
 
Track Athlete of the Year: Toshel Goffe, Medgar Evers
Goffe posted the top mark in the CUNYAC in three events during the 2024-25 indoor season.  She was No. 1 in the 60-meter dash (7.65 seconds), the 200 (24.75) and the 400 (1:00.29).  At the conference championship on March 1 Goffe helped lead the Cougars to their second straight title with wins in the 60, 200 and 400 as well as being a part of MEC’s winning 4x400 relay.
 
Field Athlete of the Year: Jamie Risso, Hunter
Risso held the CUNYAC’s top mark in the long jump and triple jump this winter, posting a mark of 5.46 meters in the long jump and 11.45 meters in the triple jump.  Also owing the top time in the league in the 60-meter hurdles and ranking No. 2 in the 60 and No. 3 in the 200, Risso was named MVP of the CUNYAC Championship after winning the long jump, triple jump and 60 hurdles while placing second in the 60 and third in the 200.
 
Rookie of the Year: Thenica Thompson, Medgar Evers
Thompson was the conference’s No. 2 ranked runner in both the 200 (26.52) and 400 (1:02.14) while sitting third in the 60-meter dash (8.15).  She also owned the No. 3 mark in the CUNYAC in the long jump (4.89 meters).  Thompson was second in the 200 at the conference championship, third in the 60 and a part of the Cougars’ winning 4x400 relay.
 
Coach of the Year: Marvin Hawkins, Hunter
Hawkins was named Coach of the Year for women’s indoor track and field for the second time in three seasons.  This season, he guided the Hawks to a second place finish at the conference championship.  The Hawks had nine top marks in the conference during the season and captured gold seven times at the conference championship.
