JAMAICA, N.Y. - Lehman sophomore defender
Munem Alhassan picked a perfect time for his first goal of the season, scoring with 10:07 remaining in regulation to lift the fourth-seeded Lightning to a 1-0 win over No. 6 seed CCNY in the 2025 CUNY Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Championship title game Saturday afternoon at York College.
Lehman (10-2-4) wins the fifth CUNYAC men's soccer title in program history and first since 2022. The Lightning earn the conference's automatic berth into the 2025 NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Championship and will learn their next opponent Monday at 11:30 am on the NCAA.com selection show. The Beavers, who were vying to become the second straight No. 6 seed to win the conference tournament and were making their first title game appearance since 2015, are now 2-10-6.
After a scoreless first half, Alhassan got the Lightning on the board after he took a long volley from
Adam Kowalski and put it home from eight yards past CCNY keeper
Carlos Garcia. Alhassan was playing in just his fourth game of the season.
Lehman outshot CCNY 22-9 on the afternoon.
Andres Barajas made four saves en route to the shutout, his seventh for Lehman, while Garcia made six saves for the Beavers, including two midway through the second half to keep the Lightning at bay.
Konstantinos Psormaras led CCNY with three shots.
Lehman junior defender
Lance Brdaric was named Championship MVP after anchoring a defense that allowed just one goal in three tournament contests.
