NEW YORK - Baruch College today announced that
Dima Kamenshchik has retired as Head Coach of the Men's Soccer program, concluding an exceptional 22-season coaching tenure that helped establish the Bearcats as one of the most consistently competitive teams in the CUNY Athletic Conference (CUNYAC).
Kamenshchik will continue to serve the College in his role as Assistant Athletic Director for Equipment and Intramurals, but will step away from coaching after a distinguished career that featured 177 victories and eight CUNYAC Championships, each followed by an appearance in the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament.
"Dima's impact on Baruch College men's soccer is truly immeasurable. For more than 20 years, he has been a steady, committed, and passionate leader who helped shape the competitive identity of our program and the student-athlete experience for generations of Bearcats. His teams consistently embodied excellence, resilience, and pride—qualities that mirror Dima himself. While we will miss his presence on the sidelines of the pitch, we are grateful that he will continue to support our department through his work in equipment and intramurals. We thank him for his exceptional service and dedication to Baruch Athletics, and we look forward to seeing the next chapter of his contributions to our community," said Director of Athletics & Recreation Heather Mac Culloch.
Kamenshchik spent the past eight years (2018–2025) as Head Coach after previously serving 14 seasons (2004–2017) as Associate Head Coach. Deeply involved in every facet of the program for more than two decades, he first joined the team as a student-athlete, playing two seasons for the Bearcats (2022 to 2023).
In recent years, he led the program to multiple conference titles and NCAA berths, including the 2023 CUNYAC Championship and NCAA Tournament appearance—marking the team's third NCAA berth in his first five seasons in charge. He was named 2022 CUNYAC Coach of the Year after guiding the Bearcats to a 10–6 record and a perfect 7–0 mark in conference play.
"It has been an honor to serve as the coach of the Men's Soccer Team for 22 years. I am forever grateful to the student-athletes and coaches who stood by my side to build the legacy that is Baruch Soccer. I want to thank all my colleagues, friends, and family who supported me throughout this journey," said Kamenshchik.
"Baruch College is an amazing institution that transforms lives. I look forward to continuing my administrative role within the department and supporting our student-athletes as they continue to build the legacy of Baruch Athletics."
"Once a Bearcat, always a Bearcat!"
A native of Belarus, Kamenshchik graduated from Edward R. Murrow High School in Brooklyn and began his collegiate soccer career at New York City College of Technology (City Tech), where he was a varsity team captain. He transferred to Baruch College in 2001, competing for two seasons and earning captain honors in 2003.
He received his B.A. in Marketing Management from Baruch in 2004 and completed a Master's in Higher Education from Baruch's Marxe School of Public and International Affairs in 2016.
