No. 4 Lightning, No. 6 Beavers Punch Ticket to CUNYAC Men's Soccer Final

NEW YORK - No. 4 Lehman and No. 6 CCNY will meet in next Saturday's 2025 CUNYAC Men's Soccer Championship final after semifinal action this afternoon.

The Lightning scored 55 seconds into overtime to eliminate top-seeded Brooklyn 1-0 and advance to their second straight final.  The Beavers, who will be making their first championship game appearance since 2015, scored with nine seconds left in regulation to forge a 1-1 tie with second-seeded Baruch before advancing for the second straight game on penalty kicks, 5-4.  CCNY is the second straight No. 6 seed to reach the final, as Hunter won the 2024 title as the No. 6 seed.

Lehman and CCNY will meet next Saturday, November 8 at York College.

Lehman's Joseph Ademola Opesanwo scored 55 seconds into overtime to advance the Lightning (9-2-4) to their second straight title game appearance. Ibrahim Kone assisted on the tally.

Brooklyn (10-6-1) and the Lightning were deadlocked 0-0 through 90 minutes with the Lightning holding a 9-5 shot advantage for the contest.  The Bulldogs held a 6-4 lead in corner kicks.

Lehman goalie Andres Barajas made a pair of saves en route to his sixth shutout of the season.  Bulldog keeper Wilson Munoz recorded one save.

CCNY (2-9-6) advanced for the second straight match on penalty kicks after forcing overtime with nine seconds remaining.

In the shootout, both teams converted each of their first four attempts. In the fifth round, Baruch (5-4-5), shooting first, missed its attempt, before Konstantinos Psomaras converted his kick to send the Beavers to their first finals appearance since 2015.

Late in regulation, CCNY's Abdul Salim sent a low shot to the far left post to tie the game 1-1.  After a scoreless first half, the Bearcats took a 1-0 lead with 2:53 to go in regulation on Rayan Vukovic's fifth goal of the season.  Ailey Dawson and Anthony Prado recorded assists on the goal.

Baruch outshot CCNY 22-18 and had five corner kicks to the Beavers' two.  Milton Pingarron had six saves in goal for CCNY, while Bearcat keeper Dzmitry Piatrashka registered four saves.
