FLUSHING, N.Y. (Apr. 11, 2024) – On the heels of the semifinals of the 2024 CUNY Athletic Conference Men’s Volleyball Championship, the conference is excited to announce its regular season awards for the 2024 season, as voted upon by the league’s head coaches.
Hunter claimed two of the four major awards, as
Cooper Moran was voted CUNYAC Player of the Year and
Kyle Foley was selected Rookie of the Year. John Jay’s
Micah Rossman was voted the league’s top libero, while Baruch’s
Ezri Shor was named CUNYAC Coach of the Year.
Player of the Year: Cooper Moran, Hunter
Cooper Moran has been arguably the best setter in the conference this season, leading the league in assists (750) and assists per set (8.93.), which also ranks No. 31 among all of NCAA Division III. He has 11 matches with 30 or more assists, including nine of 35 or more and four of 40 or more. In addition, he ranks among the top-10 in total blocks (44).
Rookie of the Year: Kyle Foley, Hunter
Kyle Foley has produced a strong season in his first year in a Hawks uniform. He ranks No. 8 in hitting percentage (.248), ninth in kills (167) and ninth in kills per set (2.57). Foley has hit over .350 in eight contests and have six double-digit kill performances.
Libero of the Year: Micah Rossman, John Jay
Micah Rossman has had a strong season for the Bloodhounds at the libero position, ranking No. 6 in digs (167) and digs per set (2.51). He has eight outings of 10 or more digs, highlighted by a 21-dig performance at Brooklyn.
Coach of the Year: Ezri Shor, Baruch
In her first season as head coach, Ezri Shor led Baruch to a perfect 14-0 record against conference opponents to win the regular season championship.
