FLUSHING, N.Y. (Mar. 8, 2023) – The City University of New York Athletic Conference has announced its end-of-year awards for the 2022-23 women’s indoor track & field season.
 
Lehman’s Aminata Sissoko was voted Track Performer of the Year, while CCNY’s Stephanie Toussaint was selected Field Performer of the Year. Hunter’s Ayayo Orwa was voted Rookie of the Year, while head coach Marvin Hawkins was voted Coach of the Year.
 
Track Performer of the Year: Aminata Sissoko, So., Lehman
Sissoko turned in a sensational indoor campaign, producing the league’s fastest times in the 200m and 400m races while ranking No. 2 in the 60m. At the indoor championships, she was named the meet’s Most Valuable Performer, medaling in six events. Sissoko earned a pair of gold medals in the 200m (28.96) and 400m (1:05.60), two silvers in the 60m (8.70) and 60mH (11.62) along with a pair of bronze medals in the long jump (4.14m) and triple jump (8.30m).
 
Field Performer of the Year: Stephanie Toussaint, So., CCNY
Toussaint was one of the conference’s premiere throwers all season long, owning the top mark in the shot put and ranking No. 2 in the weight throw. At the indoor championships, she earned gold in both throwing events.
 
Rookie of the Year: Ayayo Orwa, Fr., Hunter
Ayayo produced a strong rookie campaign for the Hawks and was the team’s top point scorer at the indoor championships. At the conference meet, she won four gold medals. Orwa was crowned league champion in the long jump, triple jump and 60m events, while aiding the 4x400m relay team to a first-place effort. In addition, she earned a bronze medal in the 200m.
 
Coach of the Year: Marvin Hawkins, Hunter
Marvin Hawkins led Hunter to its 13th women’s indoor track & field title in program history and the team’s first since 2017.
