FLUSHING, N.Y. – For the first time since 2019, the Baruch College men’s basketball team will compete in the NCAA Division III Men’s Basketball Championship Tournament. The Bearcats will face nationally ranked No. 4 Christopher Newport in the first round on Friday, March 4 at 7:30 p.m.

Baruch (20-7) punched its ticket to the big dance by winning the City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) Men’s Basketball Championship. The Bearcats knocked off the top-seeded Lehman Lightning in an overtime thriller to win their fourth conference title in program history. Emil Purisic led the way in the championship final with 23 points (9-10 FG) and 14 rebounds, earning tournament MVP recognition.
 
Christopher Newport, a member of the Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference, is 24-2 overall and are winners of its last 21 contests. The Captains are in the NCAA Tournament for a sixth straight season and 25^th time in program history. The squad is led by Jahn Hines, the 2022 C2C Player of the Year.
 
The NCAA Division III Tournament will continue the weekend on March 11-12 with the Sweet 16 and Elite 8 rounds at sectional sites. The Semifinals and Championship game will be played March 18-19 at Allen County War Memorial Coliseum Arena in Fort Wayne, Indiana
