FLUSHING, N.Y. – Hunter College has been chosen as the league’s top team on the 2022 CUNYAC Softball Preseason Poll, voted upon by the league’s head coaches.
 
The Hawks were tabbed preseason favorite with 34 points and five first-place votes. Prior to the 2021 season cancellation, Hunter managed to play just two games in 2020 before having the season abruptly end due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Hawks entered the 2020 campaign coming off their first regular season championship in a decade and an appearance in the CUNYAC Championship Game.
 
John Jay was picked to finish second with 27 points, followed by Baruch, who were awarded 25 points and one first-place vote.
 
Lehman was picked fourth with 20 points, followed by Brooklyn (13) and York (7) to round out the seven-team poll.
 
The 2022 CUNYAC Softball Championship is scheduled for May 6-7 at Brooklyn College.
