Brooklyn's Thelot Named 2018-19 StudentsFirst Rewards Contest Winner

FLUSHING, N.Y. (Jul. 1, 2019) - After attending all CUNYAC Championship events in 2018-19, Brooklyn College's Elisena Thelot was announced Monday as the winner of the league's StudentsFirst Rewards contest.

Thelot will be presented with a commemorative check for FREE TUITION FOR A YEAR at the conference's SAAC Leadership Seminar on August 20 at Baruch College.

"It's a great program and we are elated to be able to provide free tuition for a year to a student that has dedicated themselves to support the student-athletes of the CUNY system," said CUNYAC Associate Director Kim Santoiemma.

Thelot ran away with the competition, attending all 24 conference championship events (semifinals and finals included) across New York City's five boroughs.

"Winning this prize is the best thing that has happened to me in school," Thelot stated in exhilaration. "My father works three jobs to make sure that I can accomplish my goals. This is a blessing. I am grateful and excited to be the winner and will continue to work hard until I reach the end of the road."

Thelot is the sixth winner to hail from Brooklyn College in the seven-year history of the program. The six winners are the most of any institution in the CUNYAC.

About the StudentsFirst Rewards Program
The CUNYAC started the StudentsFirst Rewards program as an initiative to create an immersive experience for athletes and spectators alike who attend or play in a CUNY athletic competition. To earn points, CUNY students must attend CUNYAC Championship events. Students use an online ticketing system prior to the event and check in at the ticketing desk upon arrival. Only current CUNY students are eligible for prizes and the name on your CUNY ID must match the name registered online. The points will be totaled following the end of the semester and the top point-getter receives FREE TUITION FOR A YEAR.
