FLUSHING, N.Y. (May 6, 2019) - The City University of New York Athletic Conference and Municipal Credit Union announced their All-Star baseball selections for the 2019 season on Monday, as determined by a polling of the league's head coaches.

John Jay's Zach Hyde was voted as the Player of the Year. Lehman's Jarret Oehler earned Pitcher of the Year laurels. Staten Island's Domenick Castiglione was named the Rookie of the Year. Baruch's Jose Torres got the nod as the Coach of the Year.

Player of the Year - Zach Hyde, Sr, SS, John Jay
Hyde is the first Bloodhound to receive the honor since 2006. He finished the season with an impressive .313 batting average, to go along with a team-best four home runs and 23 RBI. His .538 slugging and .431 on-base percentage ranked in the Top 5 in the league. Additionally, Hyde stole a conference-best 33 bases in 2019, which tied him for seventh amongst the nation's leaders.

Pitcher of the Year - Jarret Oehler, Jr, P, Lehman
Oehler broke out for the Lightning in 2019. The southpaw was the CUNYAC's strikeout king, racking up 91 punchouts in a league-leading 72.2 innings pitched. Oehler had a 5-3 record in 14 appearances with a 3.22 ERA. He twice posted back-to-back double-digit strikeout games, including a 13-strikeout performance in his last outing of the year -- a complete-game victory over CCNY on Apr. 27.

Rookie of the Year - Domenick Castiglione, Fr, OF, Staten Island
Castiglione came on strong in his debut campaign, hitting at a stellar .336 clip with 21 RBI. That included a whopping .432 (16-for-37) average with eight RBI in his first 11 games, in which he tallied multiple hits in five of those contests. He was selected as the CUNYAC Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week in 2019.

Coach of the Year - Jose Torres, Baruch
Torres, who earns the honor for just the second time in his time at Baruch, led the Bearcats to their first CUNYAC title since 2012. His guidance paved the way for Baruch to take the season series against three of its four conference opponents in the regular season.
