CUNYAC/Brine Men's Soccer Player of the Week
Kevin Romero, Baruch
Midfield/Senior/San Salvador, El Salvador/Liceo Ladislao Leiva

Kevin Romero has been named the CUNYAC/Brine Men’s Soccer Player of the Week for the week of 9/1-9/7. The Baruch senior notched two assists and tallied two shots in a win over Farmingdale. He picked up an assist and took a season-high nine shots versus D’Youville. For the week, Romero notched three total assists in three games played. For his efforts during the weekend, the El Salvador native was named to All-Tournament Team.   

CUNYAC/Brine Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week

Joseph Lo Bosco has been named the CUNYAC/Brine Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the week of 9/1-9/7. The native of Italy provided tremendous defense in both games for CCNY this past week. The Beavers played a pair of long games, losing a tough 2-1 decision to NJCU in double overtime and defeating Maritime 3-2 in single overtime.

CUNYAC/Brine Men's Soccer Rookie of the Week

William Rosales has been named the CUNYAC/Brine Men’s Soccer Rookie of the Week for the second straight week. The impressive midfielder scored the game winning goal in the Bearcats’ win versus D’youville. Rosales registered two shots and was a constant attacking presence in a big win versus Farmingdale State.

CSI fell in their two matches this week and are still looking for their first victory. The Dolphins have given up 14 goals so far this year.

John Jay Bloodhounds (0-4 Overall, 0-0 CUNYAC)

The John jay Bloodhounds lost two non-conference matches for the week. On Wednesday, the Bloodhounds tied it up with 50 seconds left in the second half but fell to the College at Old Westbury, 4-3. On Sunday night, John Jay lost to Western Connecticut, 2-0.

The men's soccer team scored three goals within a seven minute span of the second half to record a 3-1 road victory at Farmingdale State College...The men's soccer team won their second straight contest by defeating D'Youville College, 2-1, in a non-conference match played on Saturday afternoon in Buffalo, New York. Bearcats dropped a heartbreaking 2-0 decision in their final game of the week in a tough battle versus Medaille. For their efforts during the tournament Peter DiBona, Kevin Romero and Myles Bent were all named to the All-Tournament Team. The Bearcats will return to action on Wednesday, September 10, with a 5:30 pm home match at the Met Oval against New Jersey City University.

CCNY Beavers (1-2 Overall, 0-0 CUNYAC)

CCNY men's soccer rebounded from a heart-breaking overtime loss to New Jersey City on Wednesday to beat Maritime in overtime on Saturday. The Beavers got on the board in the 59th minute when a scoring opportunity led to a penalty kick for Anthony Scarallo. Just 1:38 later, Cesar Augusto Bullon was also awarded a penalty, and his first career goal tied the game. The game finally came to an end in the 99th minute when pressure from the CCNY offense led to a Maritime own goal.

Lehman dropped a pair of games last week, to Maritime, 1-0, and at Rowan, 7-1. This week, the Lightning will host Old Westbury on Wednesday, Sept. 10.

The Brooklyn College Men's Soccer team had a busy week taking on Purchase College and participating in the Richard Stockton College Seashore Classic, where the Bulldogs faced off against host Stockton and The College of New Jersey. This week, BC will go on the road to face Farmingdale State College (9/10) and host national ranked Wheaton College (Ill.) on September 12th.
