Matthew Mbamelu has been named the CUNYAC/Brine Men's Soccer Player of the Week for the week of 8/25-8/31. Matthew Mbamelu scored two goals with an assist as the Beavers opened their 2014 season with a tough 5-4 loss at the College of Mount Saint Vincent. Down one in the 76th minute and down a man, Mbamelu took a thru ball from the midfield and tied the game up at four wit his second goal of the game.

Ilya Keygen has been named the CUNYAC/Brine Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the week of 8/25-8/31. The sophomore made his Brooklyn debut in the team’s season opener against NYU on Saturday, making eight saves in goal for the Bulldogs. The Kingsborough CC transfer played all 90 minutes in net as Brooklyn surrendered a late goal in the 87th minute to fall 1-0.

William Rosales has been named the CUNYAC/Brine Men's Soccer Rookie of the Week for the week of 8/25-8/31. Rosales scored Baruch’s only goal in a tough match versus NYU. This was Baruch’s only game for the week. The junior had two shots on goal.

CSI dropped both ends of their 3rd annual CSI Soccer Kick-Off Classic. They have an eventful week ahead as well. On Wednesday they travel to face NYU before another busy weekend against Purchase State on Saturday and Kings College (PA) on Monday.

The City College of New York men's soccer team opened their 2014 season with a tough 5-4 loss at the College of Mount Saint Vincent. "We played much better in the second half." Head coach Roberto Ignaccolo said after the game. "Overall, it was a hard fought game, and I remain cautiously optimistic for the rest of the season." The four goals suggested a significant boost for the Beaver offense, as they equaled or exceeded that total only twice in 20 games last season.

Lehman opened the 2014 season with a 3-0 loss at Yeshiva. This week, Maritime comes to campus for the home opener on Wednesday, before the Lightning head to Rowan University on Saturday.

The Brooklyn College Men's Soccer team dropped a hard-fought match against regional powerhouse New York University on Saturday night, 1-0. The game remained scoreless for the first 87 minutes of action, until NYU found the back of the net for the game's lone goal. Sophomore transfer Ilya Keygen made eight saves in goal making an impressive debut for the Bulldogs. Brooklyn returns to action this Wednesday against Skyline Conference preseason favorite Purchase College and will later take part in the Stockton College Seashore Classic on September 5th and 6th, going up against host Stockton and The College of New Jersey.

The Hunter Hawks opened up the 2014 campaign with back-to-back away games against SUNY Cobleskill and Bard College. The Hawks lost both contests 3-1 and 3-0 respectively. The lone goal scorer was freshman Kamal Chhetri. This week the Hawks have two matches, the home opener on Wednesday against Montclair St., and Saturday at Centenary College.

Baruch were defeated by NYU in their only game for the week. William Rosales tallied Baruch's only goal for the game.
