Jessica Wu has been named an American Volleyball Coaches Association (A.V.C.A.) Honorable Mention Division III All American in the sport of women’s volleyball.
The honor is the first time in both Baruch history that a women’s volleyball player has been named an All-American in any category. This is the first time since 2008 that a student-athlete from CUNYAC was named honorable mention(Floriana Garo, CCNY).
She also earned regional honors by being named an All-Star for the New York region.
"I am very proud of how much Jessica Wu has accomplished in her two years at Baruch," said Head Coach Allison Stack. "I am happy that she has been recognized for it at both the regional and national level."
The 2012 All-America selections were made by the AVCA Division III All-America Committee of Hannah Long (Southwestern), Chad Braegelmann (Minnesota-Morris), Amber Warners (Calvin), Shelley Bauder (Moravian), Deb Kiick (Millikin), Tim Byram (Endicott), Cal Wickens (Nazareth) and Valerie Cowan (Pomona-Pitzer).
Wu, who was named the CUNYAC Championship Tournament MVP and First Team All-Star selection, averaged 3.06 kills per set with a hitting percentage of .282. She also contributed 242 digs, 43 service aces and 27 blocks in helping lead the team to 24 total wins, the CUNYAC Championship and appearance in the NCAA Tournament first round.
