CSI's Pat Gale; LC's Brian Cubero Named Week's Top Player, Pitcher; Baruch's Perez Gets Rookie of the Week

The reigning CUNYAC Player of the Year, Pat Gale, also a 2010 All-American has started off his senior season right where he left off last year. In the Dolphins' first seven games this season the 6'3" lefty is batting .440 with a hit in six of the first seven non-conference contests. In 25 at bats, Gale has 11 hits (four doubles) and has scored three runs and three runs batted in. He was 3-6 at the plate in a doubleheader versus #14 Christopher Newport (15-1).

On the mound, Gale has made two starts (Alma, Cortland State) and is a hard-luck 0-2 with an outstanding 2.08 earned run average and 21 strikouts in 13 innings.

Brian Cubero, a first team all-star in 2010, earned his first win of the new season in his first start, going all the way (7.0 innings), giving up only three hits, two runs (both earned), two walks and six strikeouts in a 4-2 complete game win. Eight days later, the junior from Brooklyn threw three innings giving up only one hit and facing only that one batter over the minimum and fanning six again in a three inning start over associate member Yeshiva University. Due to the three innings, he did not pick up the victory, but he holds a 1.80 ERA in his first ten innings on the mound.

In his first nine games as a collegiate player, Jason Perez has already contributed to the Bearcats on the mound and at the plate. In four at-bats, he's 2-4 with a run scored and two runs batted in, On the mound, he threw a complete game, striking out five in a tough 1-0 loss to Dubuque (Iowa). In three appearances (nine innings), Perez has a 1.00 ERA.
