Prior to Lesley, he served as Sports Information Director/Director of Athletics Operations at Pine Manor College in Chestnut Hill, Mass. from 2008 to 2010. In addition to launching numerous online initiatives such as social networking, media guides and student-athlete blogs, he oversaw the department's fitness facility, work-study program, game management, scheduling, and contracts.
From 2007 to 2008, McCarthy served as a graduate assistant at Medaille College. He worked with the institution's 13 varsity sports, representing the Mavs as traveling publicist for the first two rounds of the 2008 NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Tournament.
