2026 CUNYAC Preseason Poll/Players to Watch
CUNYAC Women's Volleyball Player of the Week
Emilia Cascapera, John Jay (Jr., OH, Peekskill, N.Y.)
Cascapera racked up 89 kills across 16 sets at the Buttermaker Tournament, averaging 5.56 kills per set while hitting .371. She highlighted the weekend with 29 kills—the second-most in a match by a John Jay player since 2011—in a four-set victory over Rutgers-Camden. Cascapera helped the Bloodhounds finish 2-2 at the tournament, also contributing 15 service aces, nine digs and three blocks.
CUNYAC Women's Volleyball Rookie of the Week
Ansley Hobson, John Jay (Fr., S, Lake Worth, Fla.)
Hobson recorded 24 kills while contributing as both a setter and attacker during four matches at the Buttermaker Tournament. She posted 10 kills, 26 assists, 12 digs, four blocks and two service aces in a four-set victory over Rutgers-Camden. Hobson added nine kills on .438 hitting, 16 assists, five digs and two aces in John Jay’s four-set win over Hood.
CUNYAC Women's Volleyball Player of the Week (Honorable Mention)
Saule Okeke-Ziburkus, Brooklyn (So., OH, Houston, Texas)
Okeke-Ziburkus recorded 19 kills on .262 hitting, 18 digs and eight service aces in Brooklyn’s five-set victory over Maritime on Thursday. She also added two block assists.
