Hunter is Coaches' Pick for 11th Straight Women's Cross Country Title

NEW YORK – In the 2025 CUNY Athletic Conference preseason coaches' poll released Thursday morning, Hunter is the coaches' pick to capture the 2025 CUNYAC women's cross country championship, which would mark 11 straight championships for the Hawks.

Hunter garnered all seven possible first place votes (coaches were not allowed to vote for their own team) and garnered 49 points.  The Hawks captured their 10th straight CUNYAC title last October by placing five runners within the top 10 at the conference championship and totaling 28 points.

John Jay, which earned the other first place vote in the poll, received a total of 43 points.  The Bloodhounds finished second at the 2024 CUNYAC Women's Cross Country Championship with 68 points, placing three runners in the top 12.

Baruch (34) was slotted third in the poll, followed by CCNY (30) and Medgar Evers (26).  Brooklyn (20), Lehman (13) and York (9) rounded out the poll.

One Runner to Watch from each team was also announced Thursday morning.

The 2025 CUNYAC Cross Country Championships are set once again take place at Van Cortlandt Park on Sunday, October 26, with the women's 6K race slated for a 9:30 am start.  The men's 8K championship is scheduled to begin at 10:30 am.

Runners to Watch


Paz Moran, Baruch - Moran, a junior, was the CUNYAC Runner of the Year for the second straight year after winning her second straight individual championship in 2024.  She took first last season with a 6K time of 26:04.1

Nana Kiziriya, Brooklyn - Kiziriya, a senior, was a member of the CUNYAC Sportsmanship Team in 2024.  She placed 56th overall at the CUNYAC Championship.

Norma Flores, CCNY - As a freshman last season, Flores placed ninth at the CUNYAC Championship with a 6K time of 28:52.3 to earn All-Star accolades.

Shannon Ferri, Hunter - Ferri was the second-highest finisher for the Hawks in their title run in 2024, placing fourth overall with a 6K time of 28:07.2 to earn All-Star honors.

Skylah Nix, John Jay - A junior in 2025 Nix helped the Bloodhounds to a second place finish at the conference championship by coming in 11th overall with a time of 29:45.4 to be named an All-Star.

Shivani Raghuthu, Lehman - A sophomore, Raghuthu competed in six meets as a rookie in 2024.  She placed 45th overall in last season's CUNYAC Championship.

Kenia Irish-Bramble, Medgar Evers - Irish-Bramble earned All-Star accolades last season for the Cougars with her third place finish at the conference championship, clocking a 6K time of 27:26.3.

Keanna Clouden, York - A member of the women's cross country Sportsmanship Team in 2024, Clouden finished 46th overall at the 2024 conference championship.
