FLUSHING, N.Y. (Feb. 14, 2024) – The City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) is excited to announce its end-of-year awards for the 2023-24 women’s swimming & diving season, as voted upon by the league’s head coaches.
 
Hunter’s Kiana Guarino was voted Swimmer of the Year, while Brooklyn’s Erin Forrest was named Rookie of the Year. Hunter’s Tyrone and Kaitlin Hutchinson earned Co-Coach of the Year recognition.
 
Swimmer of the Year: Kiana Guarino, Hunter
Guarino turned in a strong sophomore campaign. In the regular season, Guarino produced the league’s fastest times in eight events, including the 200-yard freestyle, 500-yard freestyle, 200-yard backstroke, 50-yard breaststroke, 50-yard butterfly, 100-yard I.M., 200-yard I.M. and 400-yard I.M.
 
At the conference championship, she collected six gold medals over the three-day meet, including breaking a six-year championship record in the 400 I.M. (4:44.71). For her performance, she was named the meet’s Most Valuable Performer.
 
Rookie of the Year: Erin Forrest, Brooklyn
Forrest produced a solid rookie campaign for the Bulldogs, culminating in gold-medal performances in the 1650-yard freestyle (19:59.50) and 100-yard freestyle (55.99) events at the conference championship meet.
 
Coach of the Year: Tyrone and Kaitlin Hutchinson, Hunter
Tyrone and Kaitlin earn Coach of the Year honors for a second straight season after leading Hunter to an 8-6 record in the regular season including a perfect 5-0 mark against CUNYAC opposition. Most importantly, the Hawks captured a fourth straight conference championship.
