2024 CUNYAC Women's Volleyball All-Star Awards and Team Announced

FLUSHING, N.Y. - The City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) announced its women's volleyball All-Star Awards and All-Star Teams for 2024 recently.

John Jay junior outside hitter Josanne Lewis was selected as the conference's Player of the Year for the second straight season.  The Bloodhounds' Julia Stuart was tabbed Rookie of the Year, while Brooklyn's Ruti Joshi was chosen as the Libero of the Year.  John Jay head coach Austin Voges was voted Coach of the Year by his peers.

Lewis, who was also the MVP of the CUNYAC Women's Volleyball Championship, led the Bloodhounds to their first-ever CUNYAC title as she totaled 289 kills and 260 digs in 27 matches.  She led the conference in kills per set (3.48) and was ranked fourth in the league in hitting percentage (.176).  Lewis recorded double-digit kills 17 times, including 18 kills in the Bloodhounds' 3-1 CUNYAC title game win over Hunter.

Stuart finished with 165 kills and 38 blocks in her rookie campaign for John Jay.  A three-time CUNYAC Rookie of the Week, Stuart ranked fourth in the conference in kills per set, while she was third in the league in blocks per set and seventh in hitting percentage (.154).

Joshi ranked second in the conference in digs per set (4.10) as she racked up a total of 357 digs for the Bulldogs in 2024.  Joshi also tied for the league-lead in service aces with 70 as she helped Brooklyn to the No. 3 seed and a CUNYAC semifinal appearance.

Voges earns Coach of the Year honors for the first time in his career at the helm of the Bloodhounds.  He guided John Jay to a 22-7 overall record and a 6-1 CUNYAC league mark before the Bloodhounds went on to defeat Hunter in the conference title game for the program's first-ever league title and NCAA appearance.  Voges is 55-30 in three seasons leading John Jay's women's program.
