CUNYAC Men’s Soccer Player of the Week
Bradley Espejo, Hunter

In the Hawks' first match of the week, against Albertus Magnus, Espejo played a pivotal role, contributing significantly to the team’s performance. He assisted Ben Avakook for the opening goal and later added one of his own, securing a 2-0 victory. In the match against St. Elizabeth, Espejo showcased his tenacity, leading the team in shots with four, three of which were on target.

CUNYAC Men’s Soccer Rookie of the Week
Max Tsigalnitsky, Hunter

Max Tsigalnitsky made his first two collegiate starts this week. In a tightly contested match against Albertus Magnus, Tsigalnitsky played a crucial role in the Hawks' first win of the season, making a total of seven saves in the 2-0 shut out. . Notably, he saved four shots in the first half alone, keeping Hunter in the game as they built momentum to help maintain a clean sheet.

Despite the defeat by St. Elizabeth later in the week, Tsigalnitsky continued to shine. He faced 21 shots, making nine impressive saves throughout the game. His performance kept the scoreline from being even more lopsided, as he displayed remarkable agility and determination, even in the face of adversity.
 
CUNYAC Men’s Soccer Player of the Week (Honorable Mention)
Brayan Alvarez, John Jay

With two games on the ledger this week, junior midfielder Brayan Alvarez was the spark for the Bloodhounds offense.  He netted his first goal of the season and 11th of his career in the 3-1 setback against the University of Saint Joseph. On Saturday against a tough regional opponent in NJCU, Alvarez accounted for the offense, scoring both goals for John Jay, including the tying tally late in the contest.  
 
The 2024 CUNYAC Men’s Soccer Championship will take place from October 30 through November 9. The six-team, single-elimination tournament will be hosted by the higher seed for each of the first two rounds. The opening round is scheduled for Wednesday, October 30 followed by the semifinals on Saturday, November 2, and concluding with the championship match on Saturday, November 9 at Queens College.
