FLUSHING, N.Y. (Feb. 7, 2023) – The City University of New York Athletic Conference have announced its end-of-year awards for the 2022-23 women's swimming & diving season, as voted upon by the league's head coaches.
Brooklyn's
Anatasia Kutuzov was voted Performer of the Year, while Baruch's
Kira Chen was selected Rookie of the Year. Hunter Co-Head Coaches
Tyrone and Kaitlin Hutchinson were selected Coach of the Year.
Performer of the Year: Anastasia Kutuzov, Brooklyn
Kutuzov turned in a strong season in the pool for the Bulldogs. At the championship meet, she reached the podium in three events, including silver-medal performances in the 100-yard and 200-yard breaststroke races.
Rookie of the Year: Kira Chen, Baruch
A two-time CUNYAC Rookie of the Week honoree, Chen had a sensational 2022-23 campaign. At the championship meet, she was crowned conference champion in the 100-yard and 200-yard butterfly races while helping the Bearcats post second-place finishes in the 400-yard freestyle relay, 400-yard medley relay, 200-yard medley relay and 800-freestyle relay events.
"It is an honor to have received this award amongst many other amazing swimmers within my class. I am thankful for all that the Baruch swim team and my coaches have done to help support and drive me through my first season. I look forward to what the future has to offer and all that is yet to come."
Coach of the Year: Tyrone and Kaitlin Hutchinson, Hunter
In their first seasons as head coach, Tyrone and Kaitlin Hutchinson led Hunter to a 9-3 record and a perfect 5-0 against CUNYAC opposition. Most importantly, under their tutelage the Hawks captured their third straight conference championship and 13th overall in program history.
