CUNYAC Announces 2023 Women’s Basketball All-Stars at Annual All-Star Luncheon

FLUSHING, N.Y (Feb. 16, 2023) – For the first time since 2020, the City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) held its annual All-Star Basketball Luncheon at Giando's on the Water in Brooklyn, announcing its end-of-year women's basketball awards and All-Star teams.
 
Brooklyn's Gianna Gotti was voted Player of the Year, while Hunter's Alexa Charles was selected Rookie of the Year. Bulldogs' head coach Alex Lang was named Coach of the Year.
 
Player of the Year – Gianna Gotti, Sr., F, Brooklyn
This season's CUNYAC Player of the Year is a five-time CUNYAC Player of the Week honoree and a three-time Met Basketball Writers Player of the Week recipient. She averages 22.0 points per contest, ranked seventh in the country, and leads the nation in steals (140) and steals per game (5.8), recording 14 games of five or more steals and three games with at least 10.
 
Rookie of the Year – Alexa Charles, Fr., F, Hunter
This year's CUNYAC Rookie of the Year is a 10-time CUNYAC Rookie of the Week honoree. She has started every game this season for the Hawks, averaging 18.7 points and 7.7 rebounds per contest. Charles ranks second in the country in steals (131) and has three games of 10 or more swipes, including a performance with 15 against Lesley.
 
Coach of the Year – Alex Lang, Brooklyn
Lang earns CUNYAC Coach of the Year honors for a third time this season and eighth time in his career. He once again led the Bulldogs to an unblemished record in conference play for a third consecutive campaign.
