Lehman Picked First in 2022 Men’s Soccer Preseason Coaches’ Poll

FLUSHING, N.Y. (Aug. 31, 2022) – The City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) has announced its annual preseason coaches’ poll for the 2022 men’s soccer season, and Lehman was picked as the favorite, as voted upon by the league’s head coaches.
 
The Lightning accumulated 60 points and five first-place votes. Lehman went 10-3-2 last season, winning the CUNYAC Regular Season Championship while reaching the tournament final. The Lightning return all-conference goalkeeper, Demiraldo Grunasi, who was also voted Preseason Player of the Year. Grunasi started all 15 matches in net for Lehman, making 43 saves while recording four clean sheets.
 
Baruch, the reigning conference champions, finished second in the voting with 52 points and three first-place votes. Hunter was slated fourth with 37 points, followed by Brooklyn (36), John Jay (34), York (17) and Medgar Evers (11) to round out the poll.
 
The 2022 CUNYAC Men’s Soccer Championship is scheduled to begin with first round action on Wednesday, Oct. 26. The semifinals are set for Saturday, Oct. 29, with the tournament final slated for Saturday, Nov. 5 at Brooklyn College.
