MBWA Release
NEW YORK, N.Y. (Apr. 18, 2022) – The Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association (MBWA) announced its division III women’s basketball postseason awards for the 2021-22 season, and three student-athletes from the CUNY Athletic Conference deservingly earned All-Met recognition.
Brooklyn’s
Chanel Jemmott was voted All-Met Division III Player of the Year, becoming the first Bulldog in school history to earn the citation. Jemmott is now the fourth player in conference history to earn the award and the first since Jade Aponte in 2019. In addition to her Player of the Year honors, the forward landed a spot on the first team for a second straight season.
With this most recent award, Jemmott added yet another accolade to her long list of postseason honors in 2021-22. The Brooklyn native was named a WBCA All-America Honorable Mention for a third straight season, while winning her second consecutive CUNYAC Player of the Year citation. She also earned ECAC All-Star honors and D3Hoops.com All-Region recognition.
John Jay’s
Katie Healy earned her first-ever All-Met honor, landing on the second team while York’s
Mac-Dege Dessources were selected to the third team. Both players were voted CUNYAC First Team All-Stars this season.
The All-Met teams will be honored at the 89th MBWA Haggerty Awards dinner on Monday, April 25, at the Westchester Marriott in Tarrytown, NY.
The Haggerty dinner is the longest running, media-managed college basketball awards program in the United States.
