The City University of the New York Athletic Conference mourns the loss of longtime CUNYAC Administrative Assistant, Eileen Lyons.

Lyons served as the conference’s Administrative Assistant upon the league’s official inception in 1987 under original director, Michael Steurman. Lyons was instrumental in the establishment of the CUNYAC office and the annual Scholar-Athlete of the Year Awards Dinner. Prior to joining the conference office, Lyons worked on the campus of Bronx Community College for over a decade.

“Our deepest condolences go out to the Lyons family on the passing of our beloved Eileen,” said CUNYAC Commissioner Zak Ivkovic. “When I first arrived at CUNYAC straight out of college, she was the glue with the motherly touch that we all cherished. She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered. RIP Eileen.”
