FLUSHING, N.Y. (Oct. 15, 2018) - On Thursday, the City University of New York Athletic Conference and Pepsi revealed their All-Stars and major award winners for the 2018 women's volleyball season, as voted upon by the league's head coaches.

Brooklyn's Michaela Appel and Ezri Shor individually took home CUNYAC Player and Rookie of the Year honors. Hunter's Alyssa Broccoli was tabbed as the Coach of the Year.

Player of the Year - Michaela Appel, Sr, OH, Brooklyn
Appel led the Brooklyn attack in 2018, slamming down a team-leading 325 kills in 29 matches. She also collected 290 digs and served 43 aces, in addition to boasting a .196 hitting percentage. Appel ranked in the Top 5 in the conference in kills and digs this season and posted 12 double-doubles in the process.

Rookie of the Year - Ezri Shor, Fr, S, Brooklyn
Shor, a five-time CUNYAC Rookie of the Week selection, was one of the most versatile players in the conference this year. She led the Bulldogs with 305 assists and ranked second on the team and ninth in the league with 211 kills. Additionally, Shor managed to produce five triple-doubles on the season.

Coach of the Year - Alyssa Broccoli, Hunter
Broccoli guided the Hawks to an impressive 24-9 finish and a fifth-straight CUNYAC Championship. Hunter led the conference in nearly every offensive statistical category in 2018 and had four of its starting hitters record 200 or more kills. Since taking over as head coach in 2016, Broccoli has not lost a single match in league play.
