FULL RESULTS
The 2013 CUNYAC/US Army Track and Field Championships were held at Icahn Stadium in Randall’s Island. The Queensborough Tigers swept both the men’s and women’s side at the two-year level. The talent was exciting by community college athletes with strong times, heights, and distances.
Day two of the championships began with field events. In the men’s Shot Put, Kingsborough’s Amin Garcia finished with 12.47m. In the women’s, Bronco Namoi Hines took home another gold with a throw of 12.31m.
The next event was the Triple Jump. Kingsborough’s Kester Chase had an overall score of 13.99m for the men.
The last field event was the Hammer Throw. On the women’s side, All-American Naomi Hines from the Bronx Broncos threw the hammer an outstanding 41.19 to take first overall.
In the 1,500 Meter Run, Bronx's Derrick Tucker finished third overall at 4:22.69.
Up next was the 400 meters. On the men’s side, Queensborough’s Jovanni Parkinson ran the race in 50.63. Counterpart, Tigers’ Tashani Mitchell took third overall at 1:01.30.
In the 100-meter hurdles, BCC's Renee Reid finished third overall at 17.35 for the women. The men saw Kingsborough’s Amin Garcia finish the race with a time of 15.01.
The next event was the 800 meters. Queensborough’s Nathan Cyrille finished at 2:00.79 for the men while first overall on the women’s side went to Kingsborough's Monique Flemming at 2:22.18.
The 200-meter dash saw QCC's Tshani Mitchell take second at 26.11 for the women. Queensborough’s Michael-Fritz Parkinson then finished with a time of 22.47.
The second to last track event was the 5,000 meter run. For the men, Queensborough’s Zachary Merced completed the race at 16:41.23.
The final race of the night was the 4X100 relay. Second overall went to Kingsborough's ‘A’ team at 4:17.92 on the women’s side.
