CUNYAC / APPLEBEE’S® MEN’S SOCCER PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Sharard Sullivan
Medgar Evers College • Senior / Midfield / St. Augustine Senior HS / Brooklyn, NY
The senior stalwart has the Cougars off to a 2-1 start with an astounding 12 points in three games after a tallying a pair of goals and four assists in a season-opening victory versus Yeshiva. The 2009 first team all-star followed that effort with another pair of goals in a 5-1 win over Berkeley at the Ramapo Tournament. The Cougars finished in second place, falling to Western New England in the Championship match. Sullivan's 4.0 points a game leads CUNYAC in the earliest stage of the 2010 season. Head coach Stanley Harmon's Cougars will face Purchase and Mount St. Vincent this week before embarking on their conference schedule next week beginning with John Jay.
CUNYAC / APPLEBEE’S® MEN’S SOCCER ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Edward Gonzalez
John Jay College • Freshman / Forward / Bayside HS / Bayside, NY
Edward Gonzalez is the second-leading scorer in CUNYAC through the first week of play, scoring in all three of John Jay's games, as the Bloodhounds are atop the league at 2-1 overall. After scoring one goal in two road losses to Kean and Purchase, he scored all three goals in the team's home opener over Maritime, for his first collegiate hat-trick. The freshman forward from Bayside, Florida is averaging 3.3 points and 1.7 goals a game, as JJC prepares for Mount. St. Mary on Saturday before their CUNYAC tilt with Medgar Evers next week.
