NEW YORK - In the first-ever single-digit margin in the 13-year history of the event, Hunter captured its seventh City University of New York Men's Outdoor Track and Field Championship, topping Lehman by a 178-177 count. Likewise, York and Lehman shared the championship on the women's side.

On the women's side, there was a one-point difference between York and Lehman entering the final event of the afternoon. However, an official scoring error was discovered via a protest in the 10,000-meter run, which had potential scoring participants from both squads, and nullified that event's results. To that end, a co-championship was determined. York has now won three titles (including two straight), dating back to its inaugural championship in 2002, while Lehman picks up its fourth CUNYAC crown (2000, '01, '03).

Kingsborough, fresh off an eighth-place finish as a team at the NJCAA Division III Championships, took home top team honors at the community college level.

The men's Most Valuable Performer was Lehman's Pete Charles, who was the top senior-college finisher in the 100-meter dash (11.21), long jump (21-9) and triple jump (47-3). On the women's side, York's Alexandra Nkrumah took home similar accolades after earning a combined 22 points in the three jumping events (HJ: 4-4.25; LJ: 16-1; TJ: 32-1) while winning the 400-meter hurdles (1:04.60) and the 400-meter dash (58.99).

Lehman female standout Dorothy Jean-Pierre took home first-place points in the 800m (2:26.30) and 1500m (5:05.56), while CCNY All-American Jodyann Raymond sprinted to top honors in the 100 (12.50) and 200 (25.81) meter dashes. York's team won the 4x100 (50.16) and 4x400 (4:06.80) relay events, while Lehman rookie Lauren Lourick continued her sensational academic year, winning all three jumping events (HJ: 4-11.75; LJ: 17-0; TJ: 37-01.75). Bronx Community College's Kristal McGreggor won the shot put (40-08.75), discus (127-11) and hammer (146-1) events, while Rhoda Ocansey of CCNY took home a gold medal with her javelin toss of 91-7. Claudette Hetmeyer of Bronx crossed the finish line with a time of 2:24.89 in the 800m, while CCNY's Jennifer Walia and Lehman's Rama Bah won the 5000m (20:37.56) and 100m hurdles (15.49), respectively.

Jamie Wilson of Kingsborough broke the tape in the 100 (11.10) and 200 (22.26) meter dashes overall, while teammate Robert Mordel was a double winner in the 800m (2:01.81) and 1500m (4:20.21) runs. The Wave also got a gold-medal performance from Faisal Muhammad in the hammer throw (148-9), while Bronx got first-place showings from Anthony Minter in the discus (148-7) and the javelin (156-5).

Hunter received first-place overall finishes from Luis Cabrera (5000m, 17:26.62) and Oscar Dotti (110m hurdles, 18.56), with Lehman's Jase Franklyn throwing to a 42-00.75 mark in the shot put. York rookie Kenny Jacquet won the 10,000-meter run (35:19.16) by over one minute, while Lehman's Michael Francis registered a winning time of 49.95 in the 400-meter dash, just .01 ahead of CCNY's Najua Ward in the closest finish of the day.
