The College of Staten Island’s women’s basketball team sits in a tie for the top spot in the Southern Division, largely due to the play of this week’s CUNY Athletic Conference Player of the Week, Kristen Panariello. The senior averaged 16.3 points and 6.3 assists in leading the Dolphins (7-8; 5-1 CUNYAC) to a 2-1 week.
First up was a date with perennial national power NYU. The Violets came away with a 79-49 victory, yet Panariello was able to muster seven points and three assists.
As CSI returned to conference play, she posted back-to-back 21 point, eight assist performances, as the Dolphins beat Medgar Evers, 95-49, and CCNY 83-67.
On the season, Panariello is fourth in the country in assists per game with 6.4.
CSI concludes a five-game homestand by hosting John Jay on Wednesday night before heading to Manhattan to face Hunter College on Friday.
