Repeating as Rookie for the Week is Eric Klingsberg of Hunter College. The Hawks (5-4; 1-0 CUNYAC) beat FDU – Florham 85-71 and Vassar 102-90 before dropping a 76-61 decision to William Paterson, as Klingsberg averaged 25.7 points, while shooting 47.7% from the floor, and 94% from the free throw line.
Against Florham, Klingsberg scored a career-high 39 points, hitting 10 of his 17 shots from the field and 16 of his 17 free throws. He added a steal and an assist in what was a career night for the freshman. Two nights later, he returned with 24 points and four rebounds, to help the Hawks to a fourth consecutive win. But a trip across the Hudson calmed Klingsberg down and ended that win streak, as the rookie scored just 14 points.
For the season, he is third on Hunter in scoring, and eighth in the CUNYAC with 16.0 points per game.
The exam period gives Hunter a short break, as they next take to the hardwood on December 30, hosting NYU.
