Monique Salmon is the inaugural Player of the Week for the 2009-10 season in the CUNY Athletic Conference. The junior from the Bronx led Baruch (2-0, 0-0 CUNYAC) to a first place finish in the Plattsburgh State Cardinal Classic, as the Bearcats dispatched Castleton (Vt.) State 77-45 before upending the host Cardinals 110-81 in the title tilt.
The Most Valuable Player of the Tournament, Salmon averaged 19.0 points, seven assists, and two rebounds. In the opening game against Castleton, she recorded 18 points, making three of her four three-point shots. Salmon added a game-high six assists and three steals.
In the championship game against Plattsburgh, Salmon recorded game highs with 20 points and eight assists. It was her three-pointer just six minutes into the game that gave the Bearcats the lead at 17-14, a lead they would never relinquish.
