Frances Lyons of Brooklyn College is the CUNY Athletic Conference Player of the Week, as she led BC (4-3, 2-0 CUNYAC) to a perfect 3-0 week. The newly re-named Bulldogs beat conference foes York (73-60) and Staten Island (76-64) before dumping Vassar (54-48). For the week, Lyons averaged 16.3 points and 11.6 rebounds per game. She recorded double-doubles in all three games, increasing her season total to five.

Against York, BC announced their new nickname as Lyons recorded 10 points with as many rebounds against York. Two nights later, she returned with 16 points and 14 rebounds to help upend CSI and take the early lead in the CUNY Athletic Conference South Division. The Bulldogs concluded the week with the win at Vassar, where Lyons added 23 points and 11 rebounds in just 28 minutes of play.

For the season, Lyons is second on the team in scoring, and fifth in the Conference, averaging 16.0 points per game. Her 11.7 rebounds per game leads the team, and is fourth in the Conference.

Brooklyn has a pair of road games this week, traveling to St. Joe’s of Brooklyn on Tuesday night and Bard on Saturday.
