Hunter College (3-3; 2-0 CUNYAC) has taken early control of the North Division behind the play of this week’s CUNY Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week, Eric Klingsberg. For the week, Klingsberg shot better than 56 percent from the field, averaging 22 points as the Hawks picked up a pair of home wins over John Jay 94-87 and CCNY 76-63.
Against the Bloodhounds, Klingsberg shot 57 percent from the field in addition to making all nine free throw attempts, to manage a season-high 27 points while coming off the bench. Against the Beavers, he again came off the bench, contributing 17 points, five rebounds and four steals.
For the season, he is one on three Hawks to score in double digits, averaging 12.5 points in just 23 minutes per game.
This is a busy week for the Hawks, with three games. FDU-Florham comes to visit on Monday, with Vassar coming in on Wednesday. Saturday has the Hawks heading across the river, to face William Paterson.
