Judy Espinal of Lehman College earned the women’s Swimmer of the Week Award for setting multiple personal bests and school records on the week. In the Lightning’s meet against Division II Adelphi University, she set two personal and school records. The first came in a first place finish in the 200-yard individual medley, with a time of 2:37.43. Next, with a time of 1:01.91 in the 100-yard freestyle, she earned a second place finish with another personal and school record. Her third event of the day resulted in a second place finish in the 400-yard medley relay, with a time of 4:55.41. The Lightning lost the meet 127-67.
Against William Paterson University, Espinal competed in three more races, setting another personal record with a time of 1:12.75 in the 100-yard butterfly. A time of 28.14 in the 50-yard freestyle earned her third place, and a second place finish in the 200-yard medley relay rounded out her day.
