Lauren Hayden is the third Baruch player to earn Rookie of the Week honors this season, proving that there is a bright future on Lexington Avenue. Baruch (21-7, 7-1 CUNYAC) won all four matches last week, sweeping CCNY, Kean, USMMA and William Paterson, each in three sets.
In the conference tilt against CCNY, the Colorado native provided balanced play, with five kills, three digs, a pair of aces, and two and a half blocks. Against Kean, she showed her offensive prowess, recording 10 kills on just 15 attempts with no errors, a whopping .667 hitting percentage. She added a pair of aces. Next was USMMA, where she had eleven kills and three digs, while against WPU, she had ten kills and two block assists.
For the season, Hayden is hitting .313, with 49 digs, 15 solo blocks and 20 block assists.
