Ruth Perez was a driving force for Brooklyn this week, earning Player of the Week in the process. The Bridges (4-3; 3-0 CUNYAC) won three straight matches before falling to Kean University 7-2. The wins were 9-0 sweeps over Medgar Evers and New Rochelle, and an 8-1 win over John Jay.
For the week, Perez won at first singles four times, and won three times at first doubles.
Against Medgar Evers, she beat Sherine Crawford 6-1, 6-3 in singles then teamed with Olexandra Osviy at first doubles to win 8-1. Against CNR, she won 10-3 in singles them paired with Osviy again at first doubles to win 8-1. Against John Jay, she defeated Ashley Marrero to win 6-0, 2-0 (retired) before winning at #1 doubles 8-1 with Osvivy. At Kean, her #1 singles win was only one of only two wins, 1 6-4, 6-1 defeat of Lisette Laforge. She teamed with Amalea Sideris at first doubles and lost 8-2.
