Brooklyn College has a stable of young talent, and this week we honor Tyshawn Russell as the CUNY Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week. The Bridges (16-4, 8-1 CUNYAC South) beat St. Joseph’s of Brooklyn 91-50 and Lehman 98-89 as Russell contributed ten points in each game.
To start the week, the Holy Cross product made five of his seven shots against SJC. Additionally, he grabbed three steals, had one rebound, and blocked one shot. Next, against Lehman, Russell made all four shots he took, including two from beyond the arc, good for another ten points. For the week, he shot 81.8% from the field.
This week, Brooklyn, the leaders of the CUNYAC South Division, face Medgar Evers on Wednesday and City Tech on Friday.
