It was Christian Montervino who had an exceptional week for the College of Staten Island’s men’s basketball team, and he wins the CUNY Athletic Conference Player of the Week. Montervino averaged 25.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and four assists per game as CSI (6-14; 3-5 CUNYAC South) beat Drew University 77-71 and Medgar Evers 89-84.
At Drew, he connected on seven of his eleven shots from the field and seven of his eight free throws, good for 23 points. Against Medgar Evers, he was good for 28 points, six rebounds and six assists. For the week, he shot 52 percent from the field, including 38.8 % from behind the arc.
CSI hosts York College on Wednesday before heading to Baruch on Friday night.
