Leading the Hunter College Hawks to a 3-1 record last week is the men’s volleyball Player of the Week Wojciech Jakubiak. Hunter (6-6; 0-0 CUNYAC) lost to Medaille 3-1 before sweeping Lancaster Bible, Hilbert and D’Youville as the Poland native hit .400. After struggling against Medaille with only four kills and four digs, he exploded against Lancaster Bible, hitting .875 for the match. He added eleven aces and three digs in that contest as well. Against Hilbert, he continued his hot streak, hitting .750 with 16 kills out of 20 attempts. He added eight service aces and ten digs. Finally, against D’Youville, the sophomore captain had 14 kills, six service aces and nine digs.
Hunter has a busy week coming up, beginning with a Tuesday date at Lehman. Thursday, Sacred Heart University travels to Manhattan, and on Saturday, Hunter heads to Queens to face CUNYAC foes City Tech and Medgar Evers.
