For the third time in as many weeks, Brooklyn’s Amil John is the CUNY Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week. Last week, the Bridges (14-4, 7-1 CUNYAC South) won at New Paltz 70-50 and at CCNY 67-59. Later in the week, Brooklyn suffered its first conference loss, to CUNYAC North leader Baruch 79-78.

At New Paltz, John played sparingly, just 21 minutes, and contributed four points and seven rebounds. At City College, John returned to form, making seven of his eight shots, good for 16 points. He added seven rebounds and four steals in that game. Finally, in the battle of division leaders, John scored ten points while grabbing three rebounds in the one-point loss to Baruch.

For the season, John has made over 70 percent of his field goal attempts, averaging 9.6 points and 3.4 rebounds per game.

Brooklyn hosts a pair of games this week, cross-town rival St. Joseph’s College on Tuesday and Lehman on Saturday.
