Leading the Hunter College women’s swimming team last week was junior Heather Alvord, who earns Swimmer of the Week honors. The Hawks (6-3, 5-0 CUNYAC) swept conference foes Staten Island 127-106 and Baruch 107-98. At CSI, Alvord was a triple-winner, individually winning the 50-yard freestyle in :27.84 and the 100-yard backstroke in 1:08.29. She was on the 200-yard medley relay team that finished first with a time of 2:15.95. At Baruch she won her two individual races, the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:24.36 and the 100-yard backstroke in 1:11.36. The 200-yard medley relay team placed second in 2:19.59.
Hunter has clinched the regular season championship and will host non-conference opponent Mount Saint Mary College on Wednesday night.
