Justina Boatwright continues her stellar performance as a member of the York College women’s basketball team, and has earned the CUNYAC Rookie of the Week honors. The freshman guard averaged 20 points and six rebounds per game as the Cardinals (2-11, 2-4 CUNYAC South) defeated New York City Tech 72-22 and John Jay 71-54.
At City Tech, Boatwright notched a career-high 22 points to go with seven rebounds, five assists and nine steals. Then at John Jay, she contributed 18 points, five rebounds, and five assists.
The team’s leading scorer, she connected on 16 of her 25 shot attempts during the week, 64.0%.
York is in fourth place in the CUNYAC South Division. The Cardinals open a five-game home stand tonight by hosting non-conference foe St. Joseph’s of Brooklyn. Tip-off is slated for 7 o’clock. Later this week, York hosts Hunter College on Wednesday.
