Baruch College outside hitter Greg Waldvogel has been named the March 2007 Hospital for Special Surgery Student-Athlete of the Month.

Waldvogel, a senior majoring in International Business, currently owns a 3.614 GPA and is a student in the CUNY Honors College.

He spent the 2006 fall semester as a study abroad student in Lyon, France.

"I am very happy at winning this monthly recognition award from the CUNY Athletic Conference," said Waldvogel. "The month of March was terrific thanks to winning the conference tournament championship on our own home court. I would like to thank my teammates and head coach Justin Stack for all their support."

In the conference tournament semifinals against Brooklyn, Waldvogel notched a double-double with 14 kills and 13 digs to help give the Bearcats a comeback victory.

He then led the team with 21 kills, while also posting .385 hitting percentage, to defeat Hunter College for the CUNYAC crown. He finished March averaging 3.19 kills and 1.44 digs per game.

"Greg is a great player and athlete that has played a big part in the growth of our volleyball program," said head coach Justin Stack. "He travels from Long Island everyday to practice, to take classes, and to compete with our very competitive volleyball schedule. Despite the challenges, he has done a superb job of excelling on the court and in the classroom. His success is a testament to what you can accomplish with hard work. I am very happy to see him get recognized for it."
