Baruch swimmer Annelie Gregor has been selected as the CUNYAC Scholar-Athlete of the Month for December 2006.

The Swedish product has made an immediate impact in the water and classroom for the emerging NCAA swim program at Baruch College. During the month of December, against very formidable competition, Annelie set several school records and recorded a special Baruch accomplishment in the ECAC Championships.

"Annelie is the type of student-athlete that every coach dreams about in recruiting," said head coach Charles Lampasso. "She is a top athlete, a terrific student, and always displays a terrific team attitude that catches on with the rest of the team. She has made an immediate and positive impact on our program."

The B.M.C.C. transfer was sensational in the December 9th meet versus St. Joseph ' s (Patchogue) and SUNY-Purchase (12/9), winning the 500 free, 50 breast, and the 100 individual medley events.

In early December, she helped break a pair of school records in the 200 breast and 400 individual medley events at the 2006 ECAC Championships hosted by the Nassau County Aquatics Center in Long Island. As a result, Gregor is the very first female swimmer from Baruch to place individually in the Top 16 of an ECAC event.

Annelie also won the 200 individual medley and the 100 breast events against Queens College (Div. II) and King's Point on December 8th. She took the 100 back versus King's Point.

"I am so excited to be at Baruch College and New York City ," said Gregor, a native of Stockholm , Sweden . "There is so much to do at the school, and so many opportunities to learn thanks to the diversity that exists on campus. The swim team has really improved this year, and we know the biggest challenges are yet to come this month with CUNY meets left against Hunter, John Jay, and Lehman."

As a student, Annelie currently owns a 3.5 GPA as a political science major. Last year, she was named the 2006 CUNYAC Female Community College Scholar-Athlete of the Year with the Borough of Manhattan Community College.
