Freshman Josanne Lewis put together a program record-breaking week and back double-doubles during BMCC women's volleyball's 1-1 week. During a four-set battle against Division II, Raritan Valley C.C. Lewis put on a show leading the Panthers offensively and defensively, hammering a game-high 16 kills and corralling a team-best 21 digs for her first double-double of the season.
Lewis saved her best performance during the Panthers' thrilling five-set comeback victory (24-26, 22-25, 25-20, 25-22, 16-14) over Dutchess Community College. Lewis uncorked a single-game program record 30 kills, eight of them in the first set and the final one to leave her hand, capping the comeback victory over the Falcons on Saturday afternoon at BMCC Gymnasium.
Lewis's new single-game mark of 30 kills surpasses Yolireisi Pichardo's program record of 21 kills, which she reached twice during the 2018 season against Fashion Institute of Technology on September 8 and Rockland Community College on September 22.
She posted her second double-double of the season, chipping in defensively with 26 digs and tying a match-high with five service aces.
