Melanie D’Ambrosi is off to a tremendous start both on and off the court at the College of Staten Island. The hometown standout helped lead the Dolphins to a 3-2 record in the month of December and averaged 13.0 points, 3.0 steals, 4.2 assists, and 3.8 rebounds during the stretch. Even more impressive was her work in the classroom, earning a 3.71 grade point average.
The St. Joseph’s Hills graduate was extremely impressive in back-to-back CUNYAC victories against Lehman and Brooklyn. On December 6 at Lehman, she poured in 20 points (7-14 fga) and grabbed five rebounds. She followed that up with 20 points, six steals, seven assists, and five rebounds at home against Brooklyn. For her efforts, she earned CUNYAC Rookie of the Week honors on December 12.
The freshman is averaging 14.1 points, 4.0 rebounds, 4.3 assists, and 3.4 steals per game.
