Megan Campbell
Brooklyn College
Senior with a 3.829 GPA in Physical Education
Women's Basketball Forward from Tobyhanna, PA and Pocono Mountain East High School

Megan Campbell is December's CUNYAC/Hospital for Special Surgery Scholar-Athlete of the Month. The forward from Brooklyn College has made a name for herself on the court this season for the Bulldogs women's basketball team while maintaining a strong GPA in her program.

"I strike hard to get good grades and perform on the floor," said Campbell. "It is a real honor."

In the classroom, the Physical Education major aspires to be a coach and a teacher. With a 3.829 GPA, the senior from Tobyhanna, Pennsylvania has managed to consistently make the Dean's List and looks to learn about coaching and teaching from her mentors on the basketball court.

"It is definitely difficult to balance the two [athletics and academics]," said Campbell. "Sometimes I want to be shooting but I have to go to the library but I do have to go and so I try to get into the library as much as I can especially when classes get tough."

Athletically, Campbell has been a significant piece of the Bulldogs' puzzle since coming to the team. Last season, she was named to the CUNYAC First-Team, MBWA All-Met Second Team, D3Hoops.com All-Atlantic Region Third Team, and ECAC Division III Metro First Team. Coming in to this season, she was named the CUNYAC Preseason Player of the Year and has truly performed.

For the month of December, Campbell averaged 16 points per game and 9.4 rebounds per game while helping her team to a 4-1 record. She began the month with a 10 rebound effort against #11 NYU but improved her line as the month progressed. Against conference opponent John Jay, she notched eight points and five boards as the Bulldogs won 74-53. She followed that up during a conference win over Medgar Evers with 10 points and five rebounds while shooting .625 from the field. In Brooklyn's third consecutive conference game, the senior made a huge impact to help the Bulldogs win 67-44. She led the game in both points and rebounds with 28 and 12, respectively.

She ended her month during a 70-68 win over the William Paterson Pioneers, Campbell hit the game winning free throws with 0.4 seconds left in the game to give the Bulldogs the victory. She finished with 29 points and 15 rebounds which were game-highs while 29 points were a career-high. For this effort combined with one other contest, she earned December's last Player of the Week honor.

Look out for Campbell to continue impressing this season and into the postseason both on the court and in the classroom.
