Yuliya Orkis has been named the CUNYAC/Hospital for Special Surgery Women’s Tennis Player of the Week for the week of 9/15-9/21. Playing in two of Brooklyn's three matches this week, the senior posted a 2-0 record at both #1 singles and #1 doubles. Against John Jay, Orkis defeated Bernarda Reyes, 6-2, 6-0; and against Rutgers-Newark she defeated Catherine Popow, 6-1, 6-1. In doubles play against John Jay, Orkis teamed up with Diana Beshta to defeat Reyes and Ashlynne O'Brien, 2-1 (retired). Against Rutgers-Newark playing with Suraya Maenhout, the duo cruised to an 8-0 win over Yara Elsekhely and Maggie Tchorzewska.
